Ernst & Young

Corning Cable Systems

Ernst & Young, one of Europe’s largest auditing and consulting firms, was looking for a way to consolidate three of its European data centres into one central location to save costs and increase the flexibility of its information technology infrastructure.
To meet this challenge, Ernst & Young worked with Corning to plan and install a fibre optic cabling solution for the consolidated data centre. Utilizing its Plug and Play™ system, a pre-terminated, optical-fibre and copper-cabling system, Corning optimized the assembly of Ernst & Young’s network infrastructure in the structured data-centre environment.
The modular components that make up the Plug and Play system were simple to
configure and quickly installed, connected, and put into operation.

Many benefits of deploying an IP Communications (IPC) system are, by now, well documented. However, once the basic IPC foundation is set, there are many additional applications that can leverage this converged IP network even more fully. Quantifying the real productivity gains of these relatively new value-added Unified Communications technologies is difficult, yet if armed with such information, potential adopters could make a far more comprehensive ROI justification for their planned deployments. One source of such information is Based on a survey of 244 small, medium, and large organisations presently using or planning to deploy Unified Communications applications, this paper outlines both the challenges that those applications address and the actual benefits that current adopters experience.

As a global company, TANDBERG. now part of Ciisco, has a genuine concern for the environment. They believe that embracing green practices and technologies is not only a corporate social responsibility, but also makes good business sense. Video provides a practical alternative for companies looking to reduce their carbon footprint through decreased travel and telework programs, as well as provides a key competitive advantage through increased productivity.

TANDBERG, now part of Cisco, is committed to making environmental responsibility an integral part of its own corporate culture and strives to continually reduce the Company’s overall environmental impact through company-wide green programs and policies.

Because enterprise applications are rarely tested under WAN conditions, expectations of performance are often at variance to actual performance.Anue Systems Network Emulators are essential tools for effectively developing and deploying enterprise applications. They provide the ability to accurately and precisely emulate real-world network conditions prior to deployment, reducing development schedules and support cost, avoiding live troubleshooting and downtime, and consequently increasing revenue and competitive advantage. Emulating your production network enables you to understand the behavior of an application before it goes live, allowing you to determine if it will meet service level objectives (SLO) and to correctly identify the factors affecting performance.

Azlan views the concept of Unified Communications as an exciting evolution of communications and collaboration technologies. Evolution, because this technology segment has not just suddenly appeared, but is the integration of both old and new technologies based on “open standards”. To support it's distribution Channel in this growing market segment Azlan has developed deep relationships with leading vendors to create an “open architecture’ solution set.

Open standards are essential in order “Unify” Communications, they provide a platform on which technology can be integrated. This is the key to the way that Azlan adds value to both its vendors and injtegrating partners. By working with strategic vendors to create a Unified Communications reference architecture, Azlan is able to work in turn with its partners to introduce appropriate technology to compliment their existing vendor relationships and to extend their solutions portfolio.

Azlan is keen to talk to both End Users about potential UC solutions (and Azlan will introduce them to a suitably qualified implementation partner) and to VAR's and integrators who would like to broaden their UC technology portfolio.

ClearCurve Fibre

Corning Cable Systems

Corning’s latest fibre innovation broadens the ClearCurve product family into a whole new world … enterprise networks. Corning ClearCurve OM3 (and OM4*) multimode fibre is designed to withstand tight bends and challenging cabling routes with substantially less signal loss than traditional multimode fibre. This new optical fibre allows designers, installers and operators of enterprise networks (including local area networks, data centres and industrial networks) to use optical fibre in more places by delivering all of the bandwidth benefits of laser-optimized multimode optical fibre in a package that is easier to handle and install and offers more robust system performance than copper cabling.

Converged Infrastructure:
A converged infrastructure enables an organisation to do more with fewer resources. Converged Infrastructure solutions drive business agility, innovation and performance improvements, while reducing risk, complexity and cost.
IT proliferation has stretched many businesses to breaking point, and business agility is severely constrained. Converged infrastructure, a holistic solution that enables all end user sub systems to work in tandem on a single IP network, offers new and more effective ways of working which address the following typical challenges:

• Escalating IT management and administration costs
• A desire to move mission-critical environments to standards-based infrastructure
• Limited datacenter space; need to improve server consolidation, virtualisation, and utilisation
• Risk associated with older legacy systems
• A need to grow and scale capacity in line with shrinking IT budgets
• Break free of proprietary solutions to achieve true inter-operability through the adoption of open industry standards
• An approach to unifying multiple communications methods: voice, e-mail, messaging, video etc
• Security threats

E- Band Diode Harmonic Mixers

Microwave Marketing

A low-cost process in which discrete semiconductor chips are flip-attached by thermocompression bonding to 30-micron-diameter gold bumps on fine-featured passive integrated circuits was employed in the fabrication of diode harmonic mixers for use over the 71-76GHz and 81-86 GHz ranges. Incorporated in the substrate were high- precision grounded heat sinks, semi-lumped filters, and matching networks in low-loss microstrip format. Measurements demonstrate an upconversion loss minimum of 6 dB and downconversion loss minimum of 8 dB respectively. The performance is attributable to the high cutoff frequency of the discrete diodes and the low loss of the passive circuitry.
