As director of marketing communications, Server and Tools Business at Microsoft Corp., Patrick O’Rourke is responsible for driving the worldwide marketing communications strategy for Microsoft infrastructure server business, focused on the virtualization and management business. During his five years at Microsoft, O’Rourke has helped launch Microsoft’s virtualization products and business, Microsoft’s high-performance computing products and business, Microsoft’s 64-bit Windows client and server, Windows Server 2008 and Microsoft’s private cloud initiative.
Prior to Microsoft, O’Rourke held similar positions at BEA Systems and Fujitsu Business Communications Systems, and a consultancy for HP Services. O’Rourke has a master’s degree from Arizona State University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Irvine. O’Rourke lives in Redmond, Wash., USA, with his wife and two boys.
