| Learn how to make a converged network the hub of your organisational processes and deliver the network reliability that your organisation demands |
Wednesday 01 October 2008
The convergence of voice, video and data increases the pressure on IT to guarantee network availability and performance. This session looks at the challenges of effectively managing converged services and the underlying technologies.
This session will allow enterprises to gain a more accurate understanding of the full design requirements of a modern day data centre including a view of emerging energy efficient technologies and new application standards, and an understanding of future challenges facing the cabling industry within mission critical facilities.
Details of a recent exploit of known DNS vulnerabilities were revealed on 21 July 2008, with the potential to impact nearly all of the 11 million DNS servers on the Internet. DNS has other known vulnerabilities and this session will look at the importance of a robust DNS infrastructure and how managing DNS Security needs to be consistent and long-term process.

Over the next five years, next-generation networks will bring forward an increasingly diverse range of services exploiting the interaction of voice, data, video and other types of traffic. This session will look at what enterprises should do to exploit the capabilities of next generation networks to deliver enhanced business communications applications including mobility, remote working and collaboration.
This session addresses the key performance dimensions of network utilisation, security, latency, resilience, address management and cost-optimisation and illustrates new approaches to the optimisation of network performance combined with a rigorous network management methodology.
Web filtering is installed in most offices and WAN optimisation is being deployed, but what about travelling users? Remote users receive the slowest access to data are most likely to be infected with Malware. The latest in web filtering will be addressed and how travelling users can now deploy WAN optimisation and web security even when outside the office.
Few mid-sized organisations understand how to streamline network management to their advantage. Given the recent OECD IPv6 initiative, this session discusses a unique approach for delivering IPAM for the management of IPv4 and deployment of IPv6. Learn how to centralise control of networks to improve operational efficiencies, enhance security, implement NAC and drive compliance, all while dramatically lowering the TCO.
Enterprises are increasingly being asked to deliver more and more always on, hyper-connected flexible services in a secure manner to all their internal users. This "internet" style of delivery with security is challenging many looking for manageable solutions. Ethernet is being touted as the answer to all of these and other challenges. This session strips away the bankrolled hype from the selling fraternity and looks at it from the perspective of the IT director.

Organisations generally adopt Ethernet because it is seen as a simpler, faster and cheaper form of bandwidth. But BT argues that, while this is true, to reap the benefits of flexibility, self-service and bandwidth-on-demand, organisations need to build their infrastructure on a national and international 21st Century network.
Organisations with mobile employees are better positioned to meet corporate objectives of business continuity, green IT and corporate efficiency. But remote workers, in home offices, hotels or even the offices of other companies require secure, reliable, and easy to use access to the corporate resources as if they were sitting at their own desk in their office. Building highly secure, pervasive access to corporate resources from any location for both voice and data applications is easy, and no longer requires additional client software or dedicated IT support resources.
Optimising IP and IT infrastructures to ensure maximum performance for users is a business's first priority. It should be dynamic and flexible and able to deal with changing business demands. This session will look at infrastructure services which can help customers create the right infrastructure environment for today and be able to deal with the new applications tomorrow.

Before looking for new technologies and the opportunities that they bring, ICT professionals should review existing applications and the infrastructure required to support it. This session will help IT professionals understand what and where their legacy systems are and how, with a flexible system and service led approach, enterprises can ensure they are able to adapt to meet the changing needs of both their users and customers.
With a trend towards server consolidation, increased remote working and greater reliance on wireless technology, more applications are expected to work and perform well over Wide Area Networks (WANs), Wireless LANs, GPRS, 3G or Satellite networks. In this presentation, Frank Puranik explains how different network characteristics influence application behaviour, how you can create realistic test network environments in which to test IP-based applications prior to deploying them and how you can benchmark the effect of technologies that can be used to “accelerate” poor performing applications.
This session explains what ENUM is, how it works, and what business opportunities this new technology offers for businesses in the UK.
