IO’s: The missing link in your virtualized desktop architecture.
The biggest challenge of deploying and scaling a virtual desktop infrastructure is the underlying storage performance. Period.
In the VDI game, it is all about two words: WRITE IO’s.
Why? Because 80-90% of VDI’s IO requirements are small, random WRITE IOPS. This is a nightmare scenario for traditional and cache based- storage vendors. Thus, performance - not capacity - needs to be the primary focus when deploying virtual desktop environments.
