RES Software: Embracing and Extending Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) centralizes the user’s desktops from the distributed client environment into the datacenter and projects the screen to rich, thin or slim clients across the network to any location. In a VDI environment, virtual desktops can either be presented in a dedicated, one-to-one desktop–to–user relationship or a one-to-many relationship, where a single image acts as the foundation for a group of users with common traits (i.e. task workers). This approach to computing is designed to move an organization to a utility computing model where user agility is highly desired. However, the VDI environment and its utility nature create high levels of complexity in administration and execution. RES Software not only addresses these issues, but adds additional capabilities which enable the utility vision of this infrastructure.

RES Automation Manager Brochure
Automating IT management processes is key to driving down costs and complexity. As IT departments become more measurable and accountable for delivering IT services, and are often tasked with doing more with less, more rigorous and sophisticated approaches are required. Gartner states that on average 40% of unplanned, mission-critical application downtime is caused by application failures. Another 40% are caused by operator errors, and about 20% by hardware, including server and network, operating systems, environmental factors, and natural or manmade disasters. RES Automation Manager can help businesses address the large percentage of unplanned downtime instances caused by human error.

RES Workspace Manager Brochure
From physical desktops and laptops to more virtual-based platforms like Remote Desktops or VDI, the main goal of these technologies is to give users within an organization everything they need to get their jobs done. But as an IT professional,
you know it doesn’t stop there. Upgrades to new operating systems, renewals and replacements of (virtual) applications, the need for scripts, roaming profiles, group policies, and more just lead to overly complex IT infrastructures. This complexity makes your job harder, and users can suffer because of slower logon times or the need to log on to multiple environments for different applications. With RES Software, your IT team can offer users a work environment that is location and time independent. You can even make the desktop user independent—or better yet, make the user desktop independent. By separating users from their physical desktop, you can manage changes more easily and give them an optimal experience anytime, anywhere.

RES Virtual Desktop Extender Brochure
Across all industries, users require access to processor- and graphic-intensive applications like AutoCAD, Photoshop, medical imaging, and VoIP/video conferencing from within their remote and virtual desktops. You may think that these applications limit your organization’s ability to widely adopt desktop virtualization. Think again. RES Virtual Desktop Extender (VDX) gives you the unique ability to seamlessly enhance remote and virtual desktops with applications that run locally, making use of the underlying processing power, graphic capabilities and peripherals of the local computer. These applications are merged into remote or virtual desktops seamlessly — side-by-side remote applications in a single desktop experience.
