Cisco - Exterity solutions integrate with Cisco Digital Media Suite (DMS) to help keep employees informed and increase their productivity by supplying live TV and as well as camera feeds for internal events and communication
Cisco Systems, International, is the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet. Its office in Issy-les-Moulineaux just outside Paris, France, houses some 600 employees responsible for the company’s activities in France, as well as some pan-European operations.
Like all of Cisco’s locations throughout the world, the Issy-les-Moulineaux office emphasises what the company calls “Cisco on Cisco:” a dedication to using its own technology to demonstrate commitment, better understanding of Cisco product benefits and to share its own experiences with customers to spark ideas for their own applications. “When I worked for a time in America I heard it called ‘eating our own dog food’,” says Frédéric Groussolles, a global account manager based at Issy-les-
Moulineaux. “Here, we prefer to say ‘sipping our own champagne’.”

RTL II Employees Share in Programme Excitement from their Desktops with Exterity Building IPTV
A team of 150 RTL II and 40 ECM co-workers at Munich headquarters monitor the competition, stay in tune with
breaking news, and watch special events using the same IP computer network that enables email, web access, business
applications and phone services.
RTL II is a private German TV broadcaster noted for its youth-oriented programmes. The company wanted to distribute satellite TV to employees to help them monitor the competition and keep in touch with world news, as well as watch special programmes, such as sports finals or internal events. The company’s existing RF ring was too difficult to integrate with staff desktop computers. An Exterity Building IPTV solution uses the firm’s existing network to stream live satellite TV, or video from the playout centre, to employees wherever they are without the expense of an additional cabling infrastructure. The system can easily be expanded to accommodate growth, and improves the company’s return on its network infrastructure and bandwidth investments.

An Exterity Building IPTV solution uses the firm’s existing network to stream live TV and video to employees wherever they are without the expense of an additional cabling infrastructure. University College London Makes the Grade with Exterity's Network IPTV System
“Students benefit from watching live TV direct from foreign countries as they can see the language they are studying being used naturally, and learn about that country’s culture, adding an extra dimension to the learning experience. UCL prides itself on being one of the most innovative learning centres in the world and so it was vital to enhance the departments with the innovative technology that reflects this.”

An Introduction to Building IPTV
Building IPTV helps organisations maximise the value of TV and video content by delivering it over a building or campus IP network (LAN) to TVs, PCs, and AV display equipment. It offers superior quality, scalability, manageability, and cost effectiveness compared to traditional analogue audio-visual (AV) solutions that require a separate network. Organisations can leverage Building IPTV to affordably improve employee productivity, enhance customer experience, and create new revenue streams
QUESTIONS ANSWERED IN THIS WHITE PAPER...
• What is Building IPTV?
• Why is it replacing traditional AV solutions?
• What are its benefits for organisations?
• Who is using Building IPTV?
• How does it work?

When Worlds Collide
IT and AV Become Partners with Building IPTVNetwork convergence is helping organisations stretch their infrastructure budgets by enabling IP networks to carry information, such as phone conversations or TV and video channels that formerly required separate infrastructure investments and operational expenses. The impact of this convergence is nowhere greater than among IT and AV professionals, who are dealing with the collision of their worlds in IPTV, which delivers TV and video channels over an IP network. Building IPTV, used for internal communications by organisations, requires close cooperation between IT and AV professionals, systems integrators and the consultants who serve them and product vendors. Properly implemented, Building IPTV offers both IT and AV professionals the opportunity to increase their strategic value to the organisation by concentrating on their core capabilities.
This white paper offers an overview of Building IPTV designed to help IT and AV professionals get the most from Building IPTV. It begins with an overview of network convergence and IPTV, and discusses how Building IPTV differs from consumer-oriented IPTV. After a review of typical Building IPTV applications, how the technology works and its advantages, the white paper concludes with business-focused advice on making Building IPTV work for your organisation.
