Vodafone’s Unified Communications Group, has helped Cambridgeshire County Council to transform its working environment by providing its employees with fast, simple, ‘always on’,access communications. Using an Avaya Unified Communications solution the Council is building a converged IP network which will improve the delivery of services to a population of over 560,000 citizens.

The new converged IP network has allowed the Council to achieve a true business transformation, helping meet its objective to develop an empowered and responsive workforce, whilst delivering more than 20% (£1.2m) savings over a three year period.

Vodafone’s Unified Communications Group has been awarded a significant five year contract that was won in the face of fierce competition from global names including BT and Cisco Systems.

The company, working in partnership with Avaya, a global provider in communications systems, applications and services, has been awarded the £ multi-million contract to design and implement a new cutting edge back office Voice Network solution for the Capita Group Plc, a provider of professional support services.

In addition, Capita has committed the maintenance of its legacy TDM estate to Vodafone until such time that the equipment is replaced with the new Voice Network solution.

Vodafone’s Unified Communications Group has signed a significant supply contract with Cheshire Building Society to provide managed services for the whole of their voice and data communications estate. This 5 year contract includes the provision of a Nortel converged solution for their North of England head quarters along with their 42 branches, including a 55 seat multi media contact centre with an overflow of 25 located at Head Offices and branch networks. Vodafone has also replaced their existing WAN with a BT MPLS solution across their entire network and are managing their inbound and outbound lines and minutes.

Vodafone’s Unified Communications Group has implemented a contact centre solution for Convergys, the largest U.S.-based contact centre outsourcer, with a reputation for driving constant innovation and staying ahead of the curve in technology adoption as a key source of competitive advantage.

Convergys far outpaces any of its competitors with 7,000 plus agent seats running on VoIP. The organisation’s UK operation had disparate systems around its sites in Newcastle, Fareham, Guildford, Huntingdon and Camborne, with no uniformity.

This meant that they were unable to share resource between locations and there was no disaster recovery which is a crucial requirement in a critical call centre environment.

Convergys required a standard platform across all call centres to match the US Corporate policy to enable them to share resources and a resilient infrastructure as it is the hub for Europe and the UK.

Vodafone’s Unified Communications Group has implemented a leading edge, converged solution for the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, which provides citizen services in a large predominantly rural area. Over the next 20 years they, along with the West Norfolk Partnership, are moving towards a shared vision for King’ Lynn to become the economic ‘driver’ for West Norfolk.

Lafarge Aggregates have been customers of Vodafone’s Unified Communications Group for the last 5 years, their relationship started after they successfully tendered for the new telephony infrastructure at Lafarge Aggregates Head Office in Syston, Leicester that houses over 300 people.

Vodafone maintains the Head Office for aggregates in Leicester, the Head Office for cement in Solihull, 22 offices for The Ready Mix Sector around the UK and an office for new plaster board works at Ferrybridge.

Formula One racing team McLaren Racing wanted to increase the efficiency of its communications.
